Northern Exposure: WSTDA Spring Meeting Heads to Lake Louise
Registration Now Open; Deadline
May 5

The Web Sling & Tie Down Association is headed for some northern exposure at the picturesque Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada for its 2012 Spring Meeting. This meeting provides educational and networking opportunities, participation in committee meetings that shape the future of the industry, and a chance to explore the heart of pristine Banff National Park, in which Lake Louise and the Fairmont resort are located.

The Spring Meeting also will feature a special panel presentation, “RFID: Safety and Sling Management” on Wednesday, June 6. The presentation will provide an overview of RFID: how it works, what hardware and software are required for successful implementation and use, and how it can help make your business more successful. Slated panel presenters include RFID technology experts Somen Mondal of Field ID, Tom Bamford of Infochip, and Jim Stradinger of Holland 1916. For background information on RFID, see related article in this newsletter.

You can find 2012 Spring Meeting schedule details and speaker information, information about the hotel and optional events, transportation options, and registration details by clicking here.

Manufacturers of "Component Parts" Are Not Generally Liable for Injury Caused By the Finished Product

Under the “component parts doctrine,” suppliers of raw materials to manufacturers usually cannot be liable for negligence or under a strict products liability theory to the manufacturers' employees who sustain personal injuries as a result of using the raw materials in the manufacturing process. Only in extraordinary circumstances—such as when the raw materials are contaminated, the supplier exercises substantial control of the manufacturing process, or the supplier provides inherently dangerous raw materials—can suppliers be held liable.
